Crafty Works

One thing I can say about our product? You cannot even tell that its materials are only recycled. It's amazing how 'trash' can be made into a handicraft and will leave you in great marvel. The products that we made are picture frame and pen organizer. I first thought that it was hard to do something like this because we must not buy anything, that it should all be recycled, but we managed.

My creativity and resourcefulness were really tested in this project. I brought some recycled things. I designed and put the 'finishing touches' of the picture frame. I had a hard time in creating the back frame of the picture frame because I didn't know what to use to hold the picture! @@ But still, I found some ways.

After I finished doing it, I felt contented and proud. Proud, not in a boastful way, but because I was able to finish a presentable handicraft out of recycled materials.

The Picture Frame

As mentioned, all materials used were recycled. This picture frame was made out of an illustration board as its structure and magazine rolls for its design. It's very simple and easy to make. If you do not have an illustration board, you can use a shoe box or any carton. Actually, you can use anything that is hard like those alternatives mentioned. I guess, doing those magazine rolls for my group mates were a challenge because they needed to make sure that the rolls weren't too big nor too small.

Following are the materials we used:
  •          Glue or any adhesive material
  •          Magazines, newspapers, or any recycled paper
  •          Scissors
  •          Cardboard (an alternative can be a shoe box)
  •          Plastic cover or any transparent paper
  •          Styrofoam
  •          2 buttons (1 button with two holes and 1 button with no hole)
  •          Small ribbon

The Pen Organizer

I don't really have much to say about the pen organizer because it was Michelle who did it. We gave her some of the materials, of course. One word? Eye-catching. The structure of the pen organizer is made out of old telephone books that are still in good shape.

Following are the materials we used:
  •          1 phone book (in good shape)
  •          sharp utility knife
  •          ruler
  •          1 cardboard tube
  •          1" paint brush
  •          scissors
  •          used cardboard
  •          5 binder clips
  •          hot glue gun
  •          1 used pencil
  •          Paint for designing

If we're going to sell a product, I think it attract some people that will patronize them because they are useful. Not only, we helped Mother Earth but also the people who can benefit from our recycled handicrafts. A teacher asked how much our products are and we were still unsure of how much we would like to sell it but I'm sure it'll be affordable enough. The price range maybe is 50-70 pesos for the picture frame and 100+ pesos for the pen organizer. Prices are surely negotiable.
